ok, I need to have less days like this. too much to do, too little time, and I friggin want to go home but I can’t.

wednesdays kinda suck

Wednesday, July 30th, 2003

Definitely not a morning person. Didn’t get to work on the car last night, but that’s prolly a good thing. Went to matt’s after work to loan him some tools and help him check the brakes on his new squareback. That was uneventful, and we both kinda just lost steam.

That’s a relatively good thing, though, because a) his car’s perfectly fine, and b) i had to get going so I could be ready in time to go to dinner with Liz. We went to Bistro Q with her labmates (and boss) to celebrate Tina’s finishing of her doctorate. It was more time taken away from the lab than Liz wanted or could afford, but I’m glad we could go at all. It’s good to see her away from the grind briefly, and I can see the tension wash away from her face for a while. I think it just sucks that her post-doc boss is screwing her over even before she’s started working for him. Dick.

Anyway, I’m back at work and losing focus again (can’t you tell?), so I need to get schtuff done. We’ll see.

Looks like there’ll be a lot of posts early on, but I’m sure the magic will wear off. Uh, what do I do for prolonging the magic?

progress

ok, so I finally “buckled down” (thanks mom) and got that interactive done. no lunch for me today, so maybe I can leave early and go do some wire pulling. we’ll see.

I blame it all on the vortex. fuckin’ dubbers. i get lost.

here’s what I’m lookin’ forward to:
motor is pulled!

yes, i’m becoming a motorhead, but you still love me…don’t you? :(

thank god for jazz

How’s this for a start: I CAN’T FOCUS!

Here’s hoping some jazz and some advil will help. Oh, and I just got 20 freakin’ ounces of coffee to combat the severe lack of sleep I’m experiencing. For a guy who never was a coffee drinker, I’m thinkin’ things have taken a dramatic turn for the worse. Coffee used to equal bad.

Anyway, hi, my name’s jim, i’m at work and i’m doing anything but work. This is not good, considering I’ve got too much to do. All I can think about is going back out to Lansing and continuing work on my car. It’s not a bad thing to have a hobby, but god DAMN I’m having a hard time concentrating on work lately.

In the immortal words of Warren Zevon, “I don’t want to work…I just want to bang on the drum all day.”

Ah well. That’s my quote of the month: Ah well.

So hello and goodbye. I might be posting a lot, and I might not. We’ll see.
